EcoOne is an international cultural initiative promoted by a network of teachers, academics, researchers and professionals who work in environmental sciences.

Outer shell of the Earth, the lithosphere consists mostly of igneous, organogenic and sedimentary rocks (in Greek lithos means rock). It is made up of the Earth’s crust and the outer portion of the upper mantle, covering the whole terrestrial surface (continental lithosphere) and the ocean floors (oceanic lithosphere).

Literally “water sphere”, the hydrosphere is the water present on Earth (in Greek hydros means water). It includes water underground and on the surface, in the form of oceans, seas, rivers, lakes and icecaps.

The atmosphere is the gaseous layer surrounding our planet (in Greek atmos means vapor). It consists of various gases, including oxygen and nitrogen, elements essential for life. The atmosphere protects the planet from ultraviolet radiation and from the impact of meteorites which disintegrate when colliding with its upper layers.

The biosphere consists of the areas on Earth where environmental conditions allow life to develop (in Greek bios means life). These areas include the lithosphere, the hydrosphere, and the first layers of the atmosphere, up to an altitude of about 10 kilometers.

Sphere of thought (in Greek nous is the act of the human intellect). The noosphere refers to that feature typical of the human person that is the act of thought, a unique character of self- humanization. In it all types of rationality find place, including scientific and philosophical rationality.

the cosmos is ecology. I have the impression that in the future there will be a
great ecological development in our Movement because we have to save the
natural environment. In the same way that one has to be alive and not dead
in order to work at becoming a saint, so too must the planet be alive in
order to provide a home for humanity. (…) Our planet is essential for life to
exist. Therefore, a healthy ecology is the foundation of peace. We can only
build peace and brotherhood on a planet that exists.”

è l'ecologia. Ho la sensazione che in futuro ci sarà un grande sviluppo
ecologico nel nostro Movimento, perché dobbiamo salvare l’ambiente
naturale. Così come bisogna essere vivi e non morti per lavorare al fine di
diventare santi, anche il pianeta deve essere vivo per dare una casa
all'umanità. (...) Il nostro pianeta è essenziale per l'esistenza della vita.
Pertanto, un'ecologia sana è il fondamento della pace. Possiamo costruire la
pace e la fratellanza solo su un pianeta che esiste".

nutritive e altro di cui hanno bisogno, nulla di più. Quindi ognuno di noi deve

Focolare EcoPlan – a powerful initiative

“We are commited to verifying the ecological sustainability of our structures and activities … We are dedicated to the creation of greater environmental awareness that will lead to more sustainable lifestyles.”

Ecological conversion was one of the goals set by the Focolare Movement in the 2021 General Assembly. In response to this urgent need, the Focolare EcoPlan was initiated.

On the 14th and 15th of May, the Global Festival of “Buen Vivir” dedicated to “care”

An open invitation to the Global Festival of “Living well” for the people and the planet which will take place on Saturday, 14th and Sunday, 15th of May at the Mariapoli Center of Castelgandolfo (Italy). Through an experiential and dialogic approach, the event offers outdoor activities, workshops and exchange of viewpoints with experts. There will also be moment of sharing for those who wish to participate in the event remotely, through a live streaming from 14:30 to 16:00 (Central European Time).

The #OnePeopleOnePlanet multimedia marathon is back again this year on April 22. Earth Day Italy, together with the Focolare Movement and the hundreds of organizations that every year participate in the Village for the Earth, want to launch to the world the strong message of hope of a single human family in a common home to promote universal solidarity. Science, Economy, Environment, Climate, Culture, Sport, Art, School: connections and interconnections with different countries in the world, investigating and linking health and climate phenomena, social, economic and environmental factors, among peoples.
